Manages the level of access to a machine and its resources, which is limited to people authenticated by smart cards, USB keys or fingerprint readers, complimented by the optional entry of a PIN code. • Controls all the communication between the workstation and the Internet.
• Acts on two levels –  the network level, surveying all the inbound and outbound packets between the computer and Internet, and the application level, surveying all the applications connected to the Internet.
• Provides a configurable sets of rules (default or advanced) which allow authorised or forbidden packets to be controlled.
• Maintains a list of applications with the right to connect to the Internet. Every new application trying to connect will be listed after authorisation.
